FAQs
Why does Uber Eats want my content?
Uber Eats are partnering with major grocery and liquor retailers to deliver groceries via their website and app.
The content shared with Uber Eats via SupplierXM (SXM), will be used on the Uber Eats Canonical Catalog, Uber Eats’s new source-of-truth.
Will Uber Eats be contacting me for my product?
No, Uber Eats will only ever deal through retailers who distribute your product/s.
Uber Eats will never directly engage with you to source products.
All product pricing, stock availability and location is managed by the retailer directly with Uber Eats.
Where is my content going to end up?
The content shared through SKUlibrary/SupplierXM (SXM) will flow into Uber Eats Canonical Catalog housed on SXM.
In parallel, retailers send their catalogues to Uber with a GTIN, stock and price, to be sold through the app.
If a product received by a retailer has a GTIN match for a product in Uber’s internal catalog, the information received from SXM will be shown in that retailer’s catalog in the product PDP in the Uber Eats app.
For example; if a supplier has updated artwork, once that is shared with Uber Eats, it will be displayed immediately on the Uber website and app giving supplier control over their product content.
Why is this important?
Using the Uber Eats direct connections will help suppliers:
Get to market faster: Speed up the process by always meeting Uber Eat’s product content requirements with automated delivery when publishing to the Uber Eats catalogue.
Control your brand image: Ensure your product images and descriptions are complete, accurate, and up-to-date.
Increase conversions: Drive an increase in sales and conversion rates by building a great consumer shopping experience.
Do I need to pay for using SupplierXM?
No, there is no cost to the supplier, upfront or ongoing, to use SupplierXM.
Nor are there any costs for SKUlibrary hosting clients to set up their integration to SupplierXM.
I have a SKUlibrary account, do I need a SXM account too?
If suppliers want to share product content with Uber Eats, they need to have a SupplierXM account as well. The SXM account will be used as a pass through to share content with Uber Eats.
Once the SXM account is set up, they can be linked by a free integration so you can manage all your data from the once source (SKUlibrary).
Part of that service is our team backfilling data from SXM to SKUlibrary free of charge.
Can I share my content with Uber Eats through other sources?
No, Uber Eats has chosen to exclusively use SupplierXM to house its Uber Eats Canonical Catalog.
Therefore, suppliers can only share content with Uber Eats via SupplierXM, or via the Skulibrary integration (if a current Skulibrary client)
Is there an integration between SKUlibrary and SXM?
Yes! We have created a free integration for SKUlibrary hosting clients between SKUlibrary and SupplierXM, simply fill in the Opt-in integration form.
The Salsify team will then assist with backfilling any data in SXM to SKUlibrary free of charge.
Can I manage all my on-pack and master data on SKUlibrary?
Yes, we have now incorporated additional fields in SKUlibrary that will enable SKUlibrary hosting clients to manage all their data in the one platform and share to multiple retailers now using SupplierXM.
What if I had previously opted out of using SupplierXM?
No problem, our team can re-activate your SupplierXM account that has previously been switched off.
Important: if a supplier has chosen to manage their master data with other sources, this reactivation will not interfere or hinder those arrangements. The reactive account can be used to share content Uber Eats only.
To re-activate you SXM account, please send us a message at [email protected].
Can I still manage my master data on other sources?
Yes, suppliers who have currently opted to manage master data via other platforms can still continue to do this, this process will not impact that process.
Suppliers can choose to only share content with Uber Eats both on SupplierXM and/or SKUlibrary depending on where they manage their product content.
Suppliers will need to populate some missing attributes required by Uber Easts if they wish to share their content.
SKUlibrary hosting clients are offered free services to help backfill any missing content from external sources.
